Family-Owned Since 1980

Menefee Christmas Trees began in 1980 when Lou Menefee and his son Scott Menefee started selling Christmas trees in an empty lot next to their house. They started with Natural Nobles and Douglas Firs that Lou would personally cut down and transport in his 1972 Datsun Pickup to sell at their home on 72nd and Tacoma Avenue.

Their business grew, and by 1982, Lou opened his second lot on the corner of 72nd and McKinley. Over the years, Menefee Christmas Trees expanded and acquired leases on multiple lots throughout the Seattle and Tacoma area, running retail lots on both sides of 72nd Street for over 20 years. At one point, they operated up to 7 lots at the same time.

In 2012, after 32 years of owning and operating the business, Lou announced his retirement, and his son Scott took over ownership and management in 2013. This marked a new era for Menefee Christmas Trees, with Scott leading the business into the future.

In 2018, Scott and his wife Michelle began to develop 25 acres in Chehalis to add Choose & Cut offerings in the coming years. With this new development came the transition to the new name “Menefee Tree Farm” and its new logo. The farm and trees are looking great and Scott and Michelle can’t wait to add this new service to Menefee Tree Farm.

Under Scott's ownership, Menefee Tree Farm has continued its commitment to care and quality. The tradition of hand-selecting every tree in September, waiting as long as possible to cut them before bringing them to retail lots, and ensuring fresh tree deliveries weekly to provide a wide selection has remained unchanged.

Keeping the Tradition Alive

Despite the changes over the years, Menefee Tree Farm remains a small, family-owned and operated business. Scott oversees all business operations and sons Greg and Mike are now actively involved in day-to-day operations as they work together to run the business. Lou can still be found almost daily at the lot on 72nd and McKinley Avenue.

The friendly and knowledgeable sales staff is dedicated to providing a warm welcome and helping customers find the perfect tree for their family.
